"Nobody Is Beyond God's Reach"
Main Scripture: Acts 9:15 (ESV) "But the Lord said to him, 'Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.'"
Most of us know someone who seems impossible.
Maybe it's a family member who wants nothing to do with God.
Maybe it's a biker brother who laughs when faith is mentioned.
Maybe it's someone who has hurt you so deeply that you cannot imagine them ever changing.
In Acts chapter 9, Saul was that man.
He wasn't searching for Jesus.
He wasn't attending church.
He wasn't asking spiritual questions.
He was hunting Christians.
Acts 9:1 says Saul was still "breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord."
If anyone looked beyond hope, it was Saul.
Yet God had other plans.
On the road to Damascus, Jesus stopped Saul in his tracks. A bright light from heaven knocked him to the ground, and he heard these words:
Acts 9:4 "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?"
In a single moment, everything changed.
The persecutor became a preacher.
The enemy became a brother.
The man trying to destroy the church became one of its greatest missionaries.
That should encourage every one of us.
Nothing is too hard for God.
The Lord declared long before this happened:
Jeremiah 32:27 "Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?"
Sometimes we write people off.
God doesn't.
Sometimes we see their failures.
God sees their future.
Sometimes we see who they are.
God sees who they can become.
Think about an outlaw biker who has spent years running from God. Most people might see a rough exterior, a criminal record, broken relationships, and bad decisions.
God sees a potential testimony.
God sees a future disciple.
God sees a man or woman made in His image.
Never underestimate what God can do in a single moment of surrender.
But Acts 9 isn't only about Saul.
It's also about Ananias.
When God told Ananias to go meet Saul, he was terrified.
He knew Saul's reputation.
He knew Saul had come to arrest believers.
Yet God said:
Acts 9:15 (ESV) "Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine."
Ananias obeyed.
Imagine how difficult that walk must have been.
Every step required faith.
Every step required trust.
Every step required obedience.
Many times God asks us to do things that don't make sense.
Forgive that person.
Make that phone call.
Share your testimony.
Pray for your enemy.
Serve someone who doesn't deserve it.
Like Ananias, we often see reasons not to obey.
God simply says, "Go."
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV) "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
The greatest blessings often wait on the other side of obedience.
Then the chapter closes with Peter continuing God's work.
He heals Aeneas.
He raises Tabitha from the dead.
And many people turn to the Lord.
What a reminder that God is still working.
The same God who transformed Saul is still transforming lives today.
The same God who used Ananias is still calling ordinary believers today.
The same God who worked through Peter is still changing communities today.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
Maybe you're looking at a situation that seems impossible.
Maybe you're looking at yourself.
You may feel too broken.
Too old.
Too sinful.
Too far gone.
Acts 9 says otherwise.
Jesus specializes in impossible people.
After all, every Christian is a miracle of God's grace.

Is there someone in your life you've secretly given up on that God may still be pursuing?

Has God been asking you to take a step of obedience that you've been avoiding?
Are you allowing your past mistakes to define you more than God's promises?

Today, write down the name of one person who seems far from God. Pray specifically for them every day.
Then ask God to show you one act of obedience you've been postponing and take that step today.
Don't wait for perfect conditions.
Don't wait for perfect confidence.
Take the next faithful step.
God still changes lives.
And sometimes the next Saul is closer than you think.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the amazing grace You showed Saul on the road to Damascus. Thank You that no person is beyond Your reach and no situation is beyond Your power.
Help us see people through Your eyes instead of our own. Give us faith when circumstances seem impossible and courage when obedience feels uncomfortable.
Forgive us for the times we've doubted what You can do. Strengthen our trust in You and remind us that You are still changing hearts, restoring lives, and building Your Kingdom.
Use us like You used Ananias. Give us willing hearts and obedient feet. Help us become instruments in Your hands for the glory of Jesus Christ.
For anyone reading this who feels broken, discouraged, or unworthy, remind them today that Your grace is greater than their past and Your plans are bigger than their failures.
In Jesus' mighty name we pray,
Amen.

"The man you count out today may become God's messenger tomorrow."
