Improving my body composition was ALWAYS the goal. I’m not ever going to pretend it wasn’t
What made my journey so successful was I followed the plan despite how I was feeling in the moment. Those first few months were NOT focused on fat loss (again, even though that was my #1 goal).
As a new mom, I had to learn what consistency looked like with supporting habits and behaviors before I even considered dieting.
I put 100% trust in my plan knowing that if I was patient and didn’t make irrational decisions, it would all pay off
And it sure has 💅
I have even more appreciation for my postpartum fitness journey when I remember that majority of my runs in the early days were stroller runs 🥵 Granted, he weighed less, but holy moly!!! It’s so much harder
Here’s how fat loss really works:
Nutrition will be the main driver. You WILL NOT lose weight unless you are in a calorie deficit. Yes, a deficit can be created through increasing activity BUT this also comes with a cost. The more (intense) activity you do, likely the hungrier you’re going to be. In maintenance, we solve this by increasing our intake to account for that. In a deficit, we can’t do this. So you potentially put yourself in a position where you’ll be battling more hunger and more cravings which if we’re not careful, can pull us right out of our deficit. Plus, we can’t measure calorie expenditure like we can our intake. So tracking your food is always going to be #1.
Your daily movement (steps), strength training, and managing sleep and stress and the next most important factors.
Im not saying you can’t run and have success with your fat loss goals, but I am saying that if you’re running ONLY because you want to lose weight or body fat,
1. It’s probably going to feel miserable
2. There’s more efficient ways to do this

We get a few moments of snuggles before he reaches for his crib. We put him down, rub his back for a second, and then say our goodnight. Wowwwww I can’t believe we’re here!!!! 🫶🏻
The other day, someone asked me how to fight the 3pm hunger…
and I said “don’t fight it!!!!!”
We act like we’re not supposed to be hungry around 3pm?? Most of us *should have* eaten lunch a few hours before this, and dinner likely isn’t until much later, so if you want to avoid snacking your way through the evening… plan an intentional snack 👏🏻
With the exception of weeks on vacation or travel, I’ve had this yogurt bowl daily for… SO LONG 😝 I love yogurt bowls because you can swap ingredients so you never get bored!!
