🩷 Do you need to calm down? Reminder that self regulation is a skill you can learn and grow in! Taking a breath as soon as you start to feel triggered will give you some headspace to make a decision on how you want to move forward in a situation or evaluate what you need πŸ™ƒ

πŸ˜… Did you know that you can hack your biology to help calm emotional distress? When we are having big feelings, trying to use logic to calm down is like trying to mix oil and water 🚫 it doesn’t work! But what does work is addressing our physical symptoms and changing our body chemistry to help us calm down. Some of my favorite ways to do this are:

🧊 Putting an ice pack on the back of my neck or drinking ice water
🌲 Going outside and deep breathing
πŸ‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Doing some sort of high intensity movement, even for just a few minutes! Getting your heart rate up can help get your body to literally cool off after.

Life can be unpredictable, but one thing is for certain - things always find a way to work out in the end. Sometimes the end result just looks different than you might have pictured πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Do you struggle with uncertainty or anxiety over the unknown? Most of us do! As humans we like to be able to know what to expect. Unfortunately, life sometimes brings us the unexpected and we need to pivot or adjust our expectations. We can do this through reframing our thoughts, challenging unhelpful beliefs, and adjusting our behaviors to build up distress tolerance. βœ¨πŸ™πŸΌ
