Fancy Ropework by Miss Laurie
Jewelry and gifts handmade by tying traditional nautical knots. Growing up, I was surrounded by lobster boats and gear, including miles and miles of rope.

Boating season begins. A customer needed some maintenance done on his dock lines. Whipping is a treatment done to the ends of lines to prevent them from fraying. The photo on the left shows a common whipping, the simplest kind. The one on the right shows a sailmaker’s whipping which is used for 3 strand rope. This rope is 8 plait, so I was able to modify the whipping to make it work. Happy boating! 🪢⛵️🚤

ℹ️ Seeking feedback ℹ️
I just finished this gorgeous wreath for a customer who requested this color combination. Teal tracer in a white wreath. We matched the paint color to the rope and Greg painted matching buoys. QUESTION: Should I start incorporating this wreath in my standard offerings beginning in 2021? Please PLEASE drop a yes or no down 👇 in the comments.
Thank you so much! I always appreciate feedback from my followers. So many of you have provided valueable input in the past. You all make me a better maker. ❤
