Each owner of Howard Intervention Center, Inc. has an immediate family member living with the challenges of having special needs and have dedicated our careers to making a difference. We have spent our lives working with and for people who have varying disabilities. We believe that these children are extraordinary gifts with many talents and skills. It is up to us to bring forward those skills and enhance their lives. This is the path we’ve been shown in life and the challenge laid before us.

After 20 years of working with Individuals with special needs, I gave birth to a beautiful child who was diagnosed with autism. This twist on my life has now put me in the shoes of the parents I serve, which I wear proudly. My first thought, (with all my years of experience), was “I need to get ABA therapy started immediately”.

Why ABA? I have been amazed by the growth and progress of the children I worked with while doing ABA. Although I had spent most of my career as a speech and developmental therapist. ABA, (applied behavior analysis), therapy provides individualized behavior and academic intervention for children with autism. It is used to help individuals with autism live happy and productive lives. ABA therapy can foster basic skills such as looking, listening and imitating, as well as complex skills such as reading, conversing and understanding another person’s perspective.

ABA therapy completely encompasses all therapies used to treat autism and attacks all deficits systematically and intensively. I have had the pleasure of witnessing its amazing effects.
