🚨 Attention Top-Loading Washing Machine Owners! Important Advice from HeyKey Appliance & HVAC Repair 🚨

Today, we received a request to repair a top-load washer, but unfortunately, the damage was beyond repair. The culprit? Overloading the machine with heavy items like blankets and pillows.

We want to help our customers avoid similar costly mistakes, so here’s what went wrong and how you can prevent it:

🔧 What Happened:
The washing machine was overloaded, with the drum filled to the upper limit. This put excessive strain on the machine’s internal components, leading to irreparable damage. Washing heavy items like blankets and pillows in a standard home washing machine can be especially harmful.

❗️ ADVICE:

Load less than half of the drum when using your top-loading washing machine. Overloading can damage the drum and other vital parts of your washer.
NEVER wash blankets and pillows in a standard home washing machine. These items are best left to professional cleaning services that have the equipment to handle them safely.
If you want your washing machine to work for years to come, use it carefully and smartly. Avoid overloading, and always consider the weight and type of items you’re washing.

Remember, taking these simple steps can save you from costly repairs and extend the life of your appliance.

🔧 7 Dryer Maintenance Tips You Need to Know! 🔧

At HeyKey Appliance & HVAC Repair, we believe in keeping your appliances running efficiently and safely. Regular maintenance can make all the difference in prolonging the life of your dryer and ensuring it operates smoothly. Here are 7 essential tips to keep your dryer in top shape:

1️⃣ Don’t Overload Your Dryer
Large loads take longer to dry, use more energy, and can cause unnecessary wear on the drum support rollers, belt, and idler pulley. Keep your loads manageable to extend your dryer's life.

2️⃣ Check the Vent Cap Outside
The dryer vent is located outside your house. Periodically check to ensure air is coming out while clothes are drying. Don’t forget to clean the exhaust vent annually to prevent buildup.

3️⃣ Deep Clean Your Lint Screen
Cleaning the lint screen after every load is great, but every three months, wash it with a bit of laundry detergent or pop it in the dishwasher to remove residue left by dryer sheets.

4️⃣ Clean Out the Lint Trap
Remove the screen and use a dryer lint brush to clean inside the trap itself. This will improve your dryer's efficiency and reduce fire risks.

5️⃣ Clean the Drum
Wipe down the inside of the drum with a microfiber cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol to remove any residue left by dryer sheets. Let it dry thoroughly before your next load.

6️⃣ Replace Vinyl or Plastic Exhaust Vents with Metal
Plastic exhaust vents are more likely to catch fire. Stay safe by switching to metal exhaust vents.

7️⃣ Consult Operating Instructions
Before drying items that have been soiled with chemicals like gasoline, cooking oil, or paint, always consult the operating instructions. Safety first!

Following these simple tips will keep your dryer running smoothly and safely. If you need professional help or an annual dryer maintenance check, don't hesitate to call us at 704-486-92-66. Or you can book online over the website using this link: hey-key.com
