There are moments in life when we feel like we’ve hit a wall.

We start to assume we didn’t plan well enough, pray hard enough, or try sincerely enough. So we keep straining and trying to force a breakthrough in our own strength.

But in time, we start to feel the weight of …

Trying to fix that toxic relationship.
Trying to solve a financial strain.
Trying to script a perfect future for our kids.

Oh, friend, the exhaustion of trying to be the savior of our own stories is too heavy a burden to carry.

What if hitting our limit isn’t a sign of weakness?

In Luke 5:5, Peter said, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets” (NIV). The disciples had fished all night and caught absolutely nothing before a single word from Jesus caused their nets to overflow.

Miracles don't usually happen when we think we have everything perfectly planned. They happen when we surrender what we’re carrying to God.

Jesus didn't fill the nets until the disciples' human effort had completely run dry.

When we are at the end of our rope, we are actually in the exact position where God does His most beautiful, undeniable work. Our limitations do not limit Him.

Let's step back and watch what He can do with our "nothing left."

It is so easy to let productivity rob us of our peace. We measure our worth by the length of our to-do lists, and when things are left unfinished, we carry that heavy weight right into our sleep.

But Scripture gives us a completely different standard for our worth. In John 19:30, Jesus declared, “It is finished” (NIV). He completed the ultimate work on our behalf. Our standing with God was never dependent on our daily progress, our hustle, or our perfect routines.

Because His work is fully complete, we have permission to let go of our striving. The most important work of our lives is already done.

Tonight, when the anxiety of unfinished tasks creeps in, we can actively choose to shift our focus from what we didn't finish to what He did. His grace covers the gaps.
