STC Welding
this page is about the Welding Program, the instructors and students leaning the trade.
As we come to the end of the Spring 2026 semester, we are proud to recognize an incredible group of students who graduated with their Combination Welding Certificate and earned the opportunity to test with SpaceX on their 3F and 4F stainless GTAW process.
Out of all our graduates, 25 students were hand selected the best of the best for this amazing opportunity.
We were honored to have one of SpaceX’s inspectors, Kade, visit our program to inspect the students’ welds and provide qualified candidates with the green light to apply for welding positions at Starbase.
What makes this accomplishment even more impressive is the dedication these students showed. After already graduating from the program, they returned for three additional days to practice and perfect their welds in preparation for the test. Their commitment, work ethic, and drive truly reflected the standards expected in the industry.
We greatly appreciate SpaceX for working alongside our program and helping create pathways for our students to enter the welding industry at a high level. A huge thank you also goes out to our entire welding department for the extra time, effort, and mentorship put into preparing these students to meet SpaceX standards.
To celebrate the students’ hard work and dedication, we hosted a BBQ lunch for the students, faculty, and campus community. It was a great way to recognize the effort everyone contributed to making this opportunity a success. We are incredibly grateful for every opportunity that comes our way, and we wish all of our students continued success in their future endeavors.
“Every day is a chance to become a better person than you were yesterday. Do something today that your future self will thank you for.”
The 2025 semester closed on an incredible high note for our program. Fifteen of our top TIG students were given a rare opportunity to test with SpaceX for potential employment. Kade from SpaceX visited our STC facility and provided students the chance to demonstrate their skills by performing 3F and 4F stainless steel GTAW welding processes.
Our students showed up prepared, focused, and gave it their all. Mr. Keith from SpaceX was highly impressed with their performance and encouraged them to apply for open positions. Mr. Keith is an exceptionally talented welder and welding instructor with SpaceX, and we are truly grateful for the time, guidance, and opportunity he provided our students.
Experiences like this are a powerful way to end the semester, and we look forward to continuing partnerships that open doors and create real world opportunities for our students.
