John Dettmer brings over two decades of deep color expertise to his role as HP Indigo's Color Expert for the Americas. Based in Rochester, NY since 1996, John joined HP in 2019 following an 18-year tenure at RIT, where he formulated spot color inks, managed multi-platform prepress operations, and taught courses in digital printing, file preparation, and computer-to-plate technologies… Today, John serves as a Worldwide Color Subject Matter Expert for HP Indigo, delivering Color Value Added Service visits to commercial and Labels & Packaging customers across the Americas, developing color tools and documentation, and leading internal color training for HP team members. He holds Idealliance certifications in both G7 and Color Management.

is a marketing and creative director, event emcee, and professional translator — converting complex ideas into marketing messages that connect and entertain.

He's equally at home scripting a keynote opener, riffing on behavioral science, or hunting down the perfect visual for the third article in a long email newsletter. Because details matter. He’s worked with community and in the world of print since before he had grey hair. He always operated with one simple principle in mind: if it looks and sounds boring to you, it looks and sounds boring to everyone else.
