I lost both my parents to heart disease.

When my annual physical in March (โ€˜25) revealed undesirable blood markers, I knew I needed to make big shifts. ๐˜ ๐˜ท๐˜ฐ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ข๐˜จ๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ต ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜ฎ๐˜บ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฐ๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ ๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜บ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ค๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ (I was 34) to see if lifestyle intervention could help. Let me start off by saying ๐ˆ ๐‡๐€๐“๐„

the word โ€˜๐๐ข๐ž๐ญโ€™. In my opinion a diet is something you start and stop thatโ€™s usually restrictive of some sort. No thanks.

I decided to change the way I ate. Slow down. Have less caffeine. Less starches (which turn to sugar). Less sweets. Less dairy. Focus on consuming more meat (quality meat). This was an experiment. No tracking food. No daily weigh inโ€™s.

Similarly to how you purchase a new foundation at Sephora to see how you like it ... I decided to play with my day to day eating habits to see how my body would respond.

๐“๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐ข๐ฌ๐งโ€™๐ญ ๐š ๐๐ข๐ž๐ญ.

Iโ€™m a big proponent of taking your health into your own hands. Listening to your body. Watching, waiting, seeing what works for you.

My doctor 5 months ago suggested that I take out of my diet anything containing cholesterol and get on a statin. She walked into the room yesterday and said โ€œ wow, youโ€™ve lost weight. Are you trying to?โ€ I said no .. just trying to lower inflammation naturally.

When she asked what Iโ€™ve done I told her part of what has worked for me lately is consuming more meat (red meat at that) and less starches. Her response, โ€œIโ€™d rather you consume meat than starches anyway.โ€

This wasnโ€™t her suggestion to me 5 months ago ... which goes to show that itโ€™s ๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐œ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž to take part in your own health. Your doctor is there to do their job, to earn a paycheck. NOT to hold your hand.
