🚆 Silver Line Opens as 4 Cities Move to Leave DART 🗳️
The News:
The wait is over! As of Oct. 25, the DART Silver Line is officially running, connecting Plano to DFW Airport in under 60 minutes. The new Stadler FLIRT trains feature quiet rides, Wi-Fi, and USB power at every seat.[1]
The Conflict:
While the trains are rolling, the partnership is rocking. Plano, Irving, Farmers Branch, and Highland Park have voted to hold special elections in May 2026 to decide on withdrawing from DART.[2, 3]
The Issue: Cities cite a gap between taxes paid and services received (e.g., Plano contributes ~$109M but receives ~$44M in service value).[4]
The Risk: DART leadership warns that if voters approve withdrawal, all services—including the new Silver Line stations—could stop the day after the election.
Your Turn:
Have you tried the Silver Line yet? Do you support your city staying in DART? Sound off below! 👇
