STOP!! Do you criticize your weaving for uneven selvedges?
What if I told you that you don’t NEED even edges to be a good weaver.
Uneven edges are wonderful to create movement and texture in cloth. When making garments they can become amazing design elements. You can intentionally pull your weft yarn to create shapes and design within the warp threads.
But IF even selvedges ARE your jam, then when you pass the shuttle, instead of pulling your weft yarn straight across the warp, angle it up towards the top of the loom corner of the loom. THEN beat the reed. This angle will create a longer length of weft yarn that won’t pull as much on the edge.
