Spent a lovely day with my dear friend Chris Blackwell, the legendary Island Records founder, who brought the music of Bob Marley to the world.

We had a great lunch at GoldenEye and reminisced about adventures in music – I couldn’t resist sharing my story about signing Peter Tosh not far from where we sat.

It was also such a pleasure to bring him onboard Virgin Voyages and show him the musical elements of the ship with his beautiful long-term partner Marika. We even got onstage together for these photos – we used to leave that part to the artists!

We were rivals in the record business, but always made sure to be firm friends away from the negotiating table. It shows the value of befriending your rivals, and of making time for old friends. Until next time, Chris.
