Our Gratitude Runs Deep: Nonprofits Building Bridges and Connections 11/24/2025

Feeling extra grateful today. šŸ™Œ

Working with nonprofits means you get a front-row seat to people building bridges every single day — between communities, ideas, and moments that matter. Our latest blog is all about that spirit of connection and why it’s so core to what we do at ROI Solutions.

It’s not just about data (even though we love good data). It’s about the people behind the mission — the folks showing up, rolling up their sleeves, and making the world a little better.

Nonprofits aren’t just organizations — they’re real humans doing meaningful work.

Breaking down silos helps everyone breathe a little easier and work a lot smarter.

Gratitude isn’t cheesy. It’s fuel.

Curious — what’s one connection you’re grateful for lately?

Our Gratitude Runs Deep: Nonprofits Building Bridges and Connections Grateful for nonprofits driving change in human rights, democracy, conservation, public media, animal welfare, and community health.

Bridge Recap: 'Strategies to Strengthen Your Sustainer Program Lifecycle' 08/04/2025

šŸ’” Missed Bridge? Don’t worry—here’s your cheat sheet.

We gathered at The Bridge to Integrated Marketing & Fundraising Conference for a no‑nonsense look at how Humane World for Animals turned their sustainer program into a lean, mean recurring‑revenue machine—and Emily Courville, John McCarthy, and Paul Finley from FlexPay shared the secret sauce.

Here’s the playbook they laid down:

1. Predict who’s bailing (and ASAP). šŸ¤– Using MiLo Intelligence, Humane World identifies donors likely to churn up to four months in advance—so they can swoop in with personalized outreach.

2. Spot the loyal VIPs. Not all sustainers are equal—MiLo also flags your rock‑star donors for upgrades and special stewardship.

3. Combat credit‑card purgatory. Around 48% of churn is involuntary—thanks to payment nooks and crannies. FlexPay swoops in and invisibly retries failed payments (so donors don’t freak out).

4. Recover the šŸ’°. Humane World recovered $680K in six months, on pace for $1.3M+ by year‑end. Talk about ROI (pun intended).

šŸ’ø With sustainers contributing 59% of FY24 revenue and $43M annually from ~187K donors, they’re not just piggybacking—they’re redefining donor loyalty.

Why this matters:

Voluntary churn? Predict it and prevent it.
Involuntary churn? Automate the fix before donors even notice.
Ideal hookup? Personalized, data‑driven drip meets frictionless payment flow.

If you’re building (or reviving) a sustainer program, you might want to borrow their playbook.

🌈🐾 Who’s a good ally?
Loney is a good ally!

Whether it’s boosting office morale or rocking rainbow gear like a total icon, Loney reminds us all that showing up for Pride can be as simple as showing up with love (and maybe a tail wag or two). šŸ¶ā¤ļøšŸ§”šŸ’›šŸ’ššŸ’™šŸ’œ

We’re lucky to have a culture—and a crew—that celebrates inclusion, joy, and being unapologetically yourself. Happy Pride from all of us (two-legged and four-legged) at ROI Solutions!

šŸ© Happy National Donut Day from ROI Solutions! šŸ©

A little-known secret, we have a ROI Krispy Kreme Doughnuts mascot who has resided in a Tiffany glass box since 2004. You read that correctly. 2004.

Over time, it has petrified. It is taken out of its display case in VanderLoop's desk only on National Donut Day for ceremonial viewing. It is handled with awe, reverence, and with the supernatural respect it deserves. Imagine a ceremony not unlike the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.

Here are some brief reflections from the donut, which will be turned into a full blog post (coming soon):

It all began in Medford, Massachusetts. I was just a young donut then — golden, glazed, still warm from the fryer at Krispy Kreme. I had no idea I would soon be thrust into a legacy of purpose, data, and technology. My sugary surface trembled the day I was plucked not for breakfast, but for destiny.

In 2004, ROI Solutions acquired me. Not just metaphorically. Literally. Someone — we’ll call them a visionary — took me from the display case and enshrined me inside a Tiffany glass jewelry box, where I’ve been safely preserved ever since. This was no ordinary act of confectionery worship. This was a declaration: ROI Solutions would do things differently. And do them differently, they did.

Over the last 21 years, ROI Solutions didn’t just grow its client list — it grew a community. I’ve watched from my display post as the team partnered with some of the biggest names in progressive philanthropy and advocacy. We became known for powering:

šŸ© National fundraising programs.
šŸ© Grassroots mobilization efforts.
šŸ© Monthly giving strategies.
šŸ© Complex segmentation and modeling.
šŸ© Groundbreaking data analytics.

But we also supported the scrappy startups, the local change agents, the experimental thinkers. ROI’s technology scaled up or down, depending on the mission — not the market value. That flexibility made us indispensable.
All the while, the team remained humble — possibly because their mascot was a donut in a jewelry box. Hard to get too self-important when your corporate talisman is edible.

I may not have aged — sugar is a natural preservative, you know — but I’ve watched ROI Solutions evolve with grace. From small roots in Massachusetts to a distributed team of experts, from a single CRM to a dynamic ecosystem of products and partnerships.

Yet, the soul of ROI has never changed. The Tiffany box may be a metaphor now — for the care they take, the clarity they seek, and the preciousness of the missions they support — but I remain its original inhabitant. And proud of it.

Thank you, Drockelman, for dropping everything today to help me tell my story. Now get the F back to work! But first, get yourself a donut, you've earned it today. šŸ©
