Germ Proof Your Home
Since this is flu season here are some types to help you keep your home germ proof to reduce the chances of getting sick. As we all know, it's no fun getting sick.
1- Hand washing
Keeping your hands sanitized is the single most important thing. We like to touch things and those things have germs that we carry with us. So make sure you wash your hands often and especially when you first walk into your home.
2. Use paper towels to dry your hands
If you are like us, we normally have hand towels in the bathroom for guest to use. Even though you washed your hands there is still the possibility of catching germs.
3. Use a humidifier
By using a humidifier you can slow down the spread of the tiny particles of influenza that can suspend in the air. Influenza is less likely to survive in warmer, humidified air.
4. Clean hard surfaces
Clean the surfaces you touch more often. Think about your nightstands, sink faucets, light switches, doorknobs, remotes, phones, refrigerators, toys, toilet (yuck) and many other things we touch throughout the day. Viruses stay in the air for a period of time. Use any cleaning formula that features bleach or an antibacterial product. And again, use paper towels and dispose after use.
By following some of these tips will help reduce your chances of catching the flu.
Top Five Cleaning Tips
1. To remove body oil stains from collars and cuffs of colored shirts and blouses, rub hair shampoo directly on the stains. Rinse out the shampoo, then wash the clothes as usual.
2. To pick up small fragments of broken glass, press pieces of bread onto the affected area.
3. Buffing a marble tabletop with car polish leaves a thin, invisible film that helps reduce the risk of stains.
4. Eucalyptus oil removes the gummy residue left by store price stickers.
5. To clean a stainless-steel sink, put the stopper in the sink with two denture cleaning tablets and half fill with water; leave for several hours or overnight and the next day it should be sparkling.
Cleaning Tip of the Day
Remove Bathroom Soap Scum
Soap has a nasty way of forming a hard-to-remove film on tile in tubs and showers. You won't get rid of it by rubbing. Instead, wait for the surface to dry, then scrape off the scum with a 4-in. plastic putty knife. For grout lines and textured surfaces, use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
To prevent soap scum buildup, stop using real soap and start using a synthetic. Chemically speaking, any soap in a liquid or gel form, and some bar soaps (Zest and Ivory), are actually synthetic soaps and much less likely to leave a tough film in your sink, shower or tub.
