Today, the Melrose Human Rights Commission (MHRC) honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost to anti-transgender violence.
Originally founded in 1999 by advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith, Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is a solemn reminder of the urgent need to protect and uplift transgender individuals, especially Black and Brown trans women who are disproportionately affected by violence.
We stand in solidarity with our transgender neighbors, friends, and family members, and we recommit to building a community where everyone can live safely and authentically.
