I know I’ve been away for a while, but not in vain. Check out my appearance on Digital Desk of Action News 5 “Tricks to Sneak in More Vegetables” with Andrew Douglas.
Tricks to sneak more fruits and vegetables into your meals Quena Johnson, clinical dietitian at Regional One Health, joined Action News 5′s Andrew Douglas at the digital desk to share some tips and tricks on how to sneak certain fruits and vegetables into your meals.
What is BMI? BMI means “body mass index”. It is a tool used by healthcare professionals to place people in categories by comparing their weight to height. These different weight classes are then used to guess the likelihood of being/becoming ill. Keyword TOOL to GUESS likelihood of illness. BMIs have acceptions to the rule. Being in the “overweight/obese 1 class” doesn’t automatically make you unhealthy, but statistically increase your risk from suffering certain illnesses. Although I disagree with the statement “you can be healthy at any size”, I do believe that healthy is subjective. Healthy does not present the same physically on everyone. There are better ways to assess your quality of health than using a BMI such as comparing your hip to waist measurements, keeping vitals within normal range, and checking to see if your labs are within normal range. Do not limit yourself to a tool meant to sort out people at higher risk of illness from large crowds. Get personalized care, do not use a room thermostat on the wall to take your body temperature. That is not what it was created for.
