ONE YEAR AGO, Advocate Award Recipient (2025): Better Transit for a Better Memphis, Better Transit for a Better Memphis
Better Transit for a Better Memphis (BTBM) was organized by MICAH and the Sierra Club Chickasaw Group in 2024, and holds Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) accountable and further fights for adequate funding. Their mission is to champion the transformation of a fully funded public transit in Memphis that serves both dependent and choice riders.

More funding needed for MATA, transit advocates say The declining Memphis transit system received more than $30 million in funding in the city’s recently approved budget. That’s more than it got last year. But MATA supporters say it’s not enough.

There’s a new team member at Pathfinder, and we’re excited to introduce her! 🎉
Please join us in welcoming Sarah Silberberg, our summer intern, to the Tennessee Disability Pathfinder team. Sarah will be with us all summer long, bringing her passion for disability advocacy and her experience supporting students, families, and community resources.
Sarah is a rising senior at the University of Memphis, where she is majoring in Philosophy and focusing her future career on disability advocacy.
She also brings great experience to this role, including work with Disability Resources for Students at the University of Memphis, serving as a student panelist during Disability Advocacy Week, and previous internships with Disability Connection Midsouth, where she helped compile resources for families, write blogs, and create customized resource notebooks.
We’re thrilled to have Sarah’s passion, perspective, and commitment to the disability community as part of the Pathfinder team this summer.
