Future901 is a state and local multi-candidate political action committee that supports progressive policies and political leaders dedicated to making Memphis and Shelby County a successful, equitable and inclusive community. Future901 works to be a trusted leader by strategically targeting local and state elections and developing financial, data and volunteer campaign resources. Future901 recruits, vets, supports, and helps elect progressive leaders. Founded in 2016 by a group of local lawyers and political activists, the PAC is guided by members of an active steering committee invested both financially and with their time to furthering Future901’s vision and mission.

Future901’s long-term vision involves the 2018 and 2020 elections. These elections will determine the makeup of the Tennessee legislature and how redistricting is enacted after the 2020 elections. To obtain the negotiating leverage needed in order to secure a more accurate map, Democrats need another 8 (out of 99 total) General Assembly seats to break the Republican’s supermajority. That number would allow Democrats to block a quorum and prevent a government shutdown during legislative negotiations. Shelby County is critical in the Democratic efforts to gain seats in the General Assembly.
