Love doesn’t make the world go round. Love makes the ride worthwhile.

Life’s biggest adventures start closest to home.👣
When this sweet couple reached out to me, they asked if I knew of any indoor spots since it’s still cold in early March, typically, and I knew I just had to recommend slate studio. I have been wanting to do a shoot there for awhile and just never had a reason to book a slot, and then I was given a reason, so I ran with it. For my first studio session ever, I’m so proud of these and I’m definitely looking forward to hanging at Slate again.🔥📸
Yesterday, I watched a video from one of my favorite photographers and he was talking about how social media had changed. Gone are the days where you just post your photos and go throughout your day. People want to see the human side of you, not the machine that can just churn out good photos. People know your work, and they know you can take photos. They’re looking for a connection. They don’t want to just see photos, they want to know what my friend Logan is up to, and if I’m totally honest, I struggle with this because when I get to a shoot, I immediately go into photographer mode. I neglect the BTS and just put the blinders on and fly into the moments before me throwing caution to the wind and because of this, my humanity struggles to appear on my feed and it’s just my work. It was a very thought provoking discussion, so I wanted to attempt to start to give my humanity a presence, so if you care at all, I left something for ya at the end. 🤝🏼🫶🏻📸

By far one of the most special things I was a part of in 2024. What started as a normal Saturday with no shoots that day quickly turned into one of my favorite days. I woke up to a text that morning from these sweet clients asking if I was available that day because Alyssa was on her way. So of course I had to be there. I packed my bags and hoped my camera had enough charge as I drove to the hospital. My camera batteries did in fact have enough charge and I was able to experience and document such a monumental moment in their lives.
Welcome to the world, Alyssa💛

As more people find out that I am also pursuing a career in medicine, one question I find myself answering is, are you going to quit photography?? My answer is: no, I’m not quitting. Photography has been a part of my life since I was 18 years old and I love it too much to let it go. While I may have to put the camera down for a time once the time comes to start medical school, I will pick it back up. I love medicine, and I love photography. These are two great passions of mine, and I’m a firm believer that one doesn’t have to take precedence over the other. They can and will coexist.

When I was given the opportunity to shoot this beautiful 1957 Fairlane, I knew I had to take it because just like it was a break from what I normally shoot, it was a break from the new modern, and for just a short time, I was taken back to the days of old. The days where respect for persons flourished. The days where the goal wasn’t to get into her pants by the end of the night, but rather the goal was to build genuine connection over icecream and Frank Sinatra. Oh to be in those days. What a time it must’ve been.
