As Luz’s vision worsened, the cataract surgeries she needed quickly became financially overwhelming without health insurance.

At the same time, she was using her savings to pay for medical care while her daughter faced serious health challenges. Luz fell behind on rent and faced an impossible choice between continuing treatment and keeping stable housing.

With support from LEAVEN, Luz was able to remain housed while focusing on healing and caring for her family during a difficult season.
