| Tree Tip Tuesday | Did you know that tree's roots are only 6 to 9 inches below the surface of the soil and are in direct competition with yard grass? One of the worst stresses for urban trees is grass and soil compaction caused by mowing. A mulch ring is a great way to solve both of these problems. Spread out from the trunk to the drip line of the tree. Make sure not to cover up the base of the trunk or rototill/dig-up the grass surrounding it. Use w**d fabric or newspaper to bed the mulch.
