Responsible for the supervision of blood bank personnel at multiple hospitals. Supervises blood bank personnel in the performance of basic and advanced patient and donor tests including automated and manual test procedures and the interpretation of results to determine donor-recipient compatibility. Responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing policies, processes and procedures that address all aspects of immunohematology diagnostic testing. Works with Blood Bank Manager, Supervisors and Transfusion Medicine Professional Staff to implement system-wide integration goals.
Consults and communicates with staff to help resolve technological and operational problems. As directed by the Laboratory Director, Clinical Consultant and Technical Supervisor, and Blood Bank Manager, the Supervisor Blood Bank: Ensures that all Division and Departmental policies are adhered to and all lab safety procedures are followed. Develops, implements and oversees policies, processes and procedures for daily operational tasks including: blood product receiving, blood product testing, blood product preparation and issue, daily quality control testing and review, routine patient testing including ABO, Rh testing, antibody screening and crossmatching. Supervises laboratory personnel responsible for carrying out the policies, processes and procedures. Ensures that patient care needs are being met, and address ongoing service issues, such as customer complaints. Tracks and reports blood bank quality metrics. Coordinates special projects, e.g. New test instruments. Develops, implements and oversees blood bank employee training and a competency evaluation program that addresses the policies, processes and procedures for which the employee is responsible. Supervise laboratory personnel responsible for performing training and competency assessment. Participates in training/competency for new employees. Together with the Quality and Compliance Officers develops, implements and oversees policies, processes and procedures that will ensure compliance with all accrediting and regulatory laboratory requirements. Responsible for ensuring the reporting of blood banking quality metrics. This individual is responsible for ensuring that all testing personnel working in the blood bank adhere to the Transfusion Medicine Quality Plan. Works with regional laboratory manager and Blood Bank manager to develop system efficiencies and address integration needs. Ensures that the laboratory's established policies and procedures are followed whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance. Ensures good documentation practices including clear and legible records. Responsible for ensuring proficiency testing is in compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations i.e. analysis of proficiency survey samples are performed in the same manner as a patient specimens, no communication with other CLIA laboratories, complete record retention and accurate documentation and result reporting. Develops and implements corrective action for Proficiency Testing failures. Ensures compliance with occurrence management requirements as specified in the Transfusion Medicine Quality Plan. Maintains regulatory knowledge and awareness as it pertains to specific job duties. Responsible for ensuring participation in continuing education, professional development and required annual competency assessment. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from a four-year college or university. OR Meets the CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing personnel grandfathering clauses. Diploma and/or transcripts must be provided. Education will be verified. Education outside of the United States requires diploma/transcripts translated into English and proof of foreign equivalency from by an HHS approved agency or nationally recognized organization such as NACES (National Association Credential Evaluation Services, Inc) or AICE (Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc).
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Certified Medical Technologist (MT(ASCP)), Blood Banking Technologist (BB(ASCP)), Blood Banking Specialist SBB(ASCP) or American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) eligible preferred. COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 3 years blood banking experience and at least 1 year management experience and knowledgeable in Quality System Essentials
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical demands include: Visual acuity to study specimens under a microscope. The ability to distinguish colors. Fine motor skills and manual dexterity to handle specimens and lab equipment required to process specimens and repair equipment. May be required to stand for long periods of time. Light lifting may be required. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials, etc.

DESCRIPTION
In your role as a Senior Accountant, Operations Finance, you will be part of our success by:
• Completing costs for new items, gross margin analysis, and annual cost budget
• Completing month-end cost and inventory entries and general ledger closings
• Managing Fixed Asset reporting – including asset additions, disposals, transfers, CIP allocation, and depreciation
• Supporting Product Managers by providing customer quotes in a timely manner while maintaining standard costs
• Improving the Capital Expenditure management and approval process
• Supporting the business unit during ERP implementation and transition
• Participating in physical inventories, cost reconciliations, and analysis
• Providing financial support for lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
