“Prosthesis” (plural: protheses) is an artificial device that replaces a body part lost through trauma, disease or congenital condition. The components of a prosthesis depends on the body part it replaces. If a prosthesis replaces a leg, for example, you call it a prosthetic leg. 🦿 the anatomy of a prosthetic leg is as follows: socket, suspension system, knee joint, pylon/shank, foot/ankle and if applicable a hip joint.
