Friday Facts: In 1902, Willis Carrier was tasked with solving a humidity problem that was causing magazine pages to wrinkle at Sackett-Wilhelms Lithographing and Publishing Company in Brooklyn. Carrier designed a system that controlled humidity using cooling coils and secured a patent for his "Apparatus for Treating Air,” which could either humidify (by heating water) or dehumidify (by cooling water) air. He designed the first modern air-conditioning system – an invention that would go on to fundamentally change the world. In 1998, Carrier was named one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People of the 20th Century.

Friday Facts: On Nov 8, 1904 Harvey Hubbell patented the first detachable electric plug in the United States. The detachable electric plug revolutionized the way electrical wires were connected/disconnected from a power supply. Until Hubbell’s plug, electrical devices had to be hardwired to the power source.
