A devastating fire broke out late last Friday night into early Saturday morning at the Mississippi Trade Mart in Jackson, forcing the cancellation of the popular Spring Market.

While only a few booths were completely destroyed, heavy smoke and soot spread throughout the facility, leaving the majority of the 100+ vendors with significant losses, including merchandise, displays, table coverings, and backdrops.

For most of these vendors, shows like Spring Market are not just a hobby—they are their livelihood. Many have lost inventory and essential materials they depend on for income. Some vendors did not have insurance, and others are facing challenges with coverage, as their policies may not apply since the fire did not originate in their individual booths.

A fundraiser has been organized to support those affected, as the vendor community begins the difficult process of recovery. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no timeline has been announced for reopening the facility.

This heartbreaking situation serves as a reminder to support small businesses and the people behind them. Prayers are appreciated for all vendors, event organizers, and everyone impacted during this challenging time.
