Passwords are the keys to our online identities. They allow us to access our email, social media, bank accounts, and more. However, if someone gains access to our passwords, they can easily take over our online identities and steal our personal information.
In order to keep our online identities secure, it's important to use strong passwords that are difficult for others to guess. Here are some tips on creating and managing strong passwords:
1. Use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols: A strong password should be at least 12 characters long and contain a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. This makes it more difficult for someone to guess your password.
2. Avoid common words and phrases: Avoid using common words and phrases such as "password," "123456," or your name or birthdate. These are easy for hackers to guess.
3. Use a unique password for each account: Using the same password for multiple accounts can be dangerous. If a hacker gains access to one of your accounts, they will have access to all of your accounts.
4. Change your passwords regularly: Changing your passwords every few months can help keep your accounts secure. If someone has gained access to your password, changing it will make it more difficult for them to continue accessing your accounts.
5. Use two-factor authentication: Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your accounts by requiring a code sent to your phone or email to be entered in addition to your password.
6. Use a password manager: A password manager can help you create strong, unique passwords for each of your accounts and store them securely. This eliminates the need to remember multiple passwords
Your local neighborhood tech guys (Pave) can help further secure your network by implementing a firewall and protect your devices from malware & viruses.
