About As Above, So Below
Childhood friends to lovers, Iphis and Ianthe are finally engaged to be married, but Iphis has a secret. They are an afab nonbinary le***an, whose mother raised them as a boy to save Iphis from their femicidal father. Terrified of what will happen when their identity is discovered, Iphis seeks guidance from the Gods Artemis and Apollo. As Above So Below is a reverse engineered musical r***e drawing inspiration from Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Greek mythology, and the poetry of Sappho. This indie/folk/rock musical combines movement and song in a celebration of q***r joy that questions the trope of tragic q***r love stories.
