The Netherlands-based venture capital firm FORWARD.one has announced the launch of its second fun. With the €100M fund FORWARD.one plans to invest in startups that have developed the technologies of the future with the use of innovative high-tech hardware.

The firm’s first fund invested in companies that operate in the fields of robotics, quantum computing, sensoring, virtual and augmented reality, biomanufacturing and audio technology. The VC fund also reported that “several of these companies have the potential to conquer large international markets or unlock new ones.”

Since its foundation in 2017, FORWARD.one has reviewed more than a thousand companies, and its team claims to have learned about the opportunity offered by high tech in the Netherlands.

Good news for UK based quantum startup Kuano, a software platform for rapid, cost-effective modelling of enzymes. The startup has raised just raised 1 million pounds in seed funding from ACF Investors, o2h ventures and a syndicate of Cambridge-based angel investors.

The funding will help the startup along the road towards commercialisation. Kuano combines quantum physics, artificial intelligence (AI) and medicinal chemistry in a unique approach to transforming the discovery of therapeutics focused on enzyme inhibition. Enzymes represent the largest class of drug targets. The market is seeing considerable demand for enzyme inhibitors, which can provide improved drug potency, selectivity or reduced susceptibility to resistance.

Kuano’s platform has the potential to transform the discovery of enzyme inhibitors and create significantly more effective medicines with quantum technology!
