RIP to Jane Goodall. While most people know me as a tech founder / racecar driver, I was so inspired by Jane’s work with primates that I moved to Alaska to save Bald Eagles in 2009! I lived in Sitka Alaska, and even had a puppy mastiff I named after the island who accompanied me everywhere.

These pics are a trip - sometimes you can’t believe the risk you take in life. I hopped a plane with no *actual* job lined up, but just walked into and asked to do ANYTHING. “Luckily” the prior avian keeper had accidentally cut her finger off the day before so they said if I was up for it I could start the next day.

I wore double cut gloves on both hands all summer, came away with 10 fingers still in tact and a passion for animals…but also realized being a veterinarian wasn’t my calling.

What’s the crazies job risk you’ve taken?
