The Daily Business Review recently featured Davis Goldman Co-Managing Partner Jason Goldman for his insights on the legal and operational challenges tied to Florida’s expansion of mental healthcare services through urgent care centers.
In the article, Jason explains that while these care models can improve access to treatment, they also introduce meaningful liability risks for providers navigating complex and at times subjective screening decisions.
Jason emphasizes that healthcare providers can reduce risk by implementing clear protocols, relying on standardized diagnostic tools, and maintaining thorough documentation.

Co-Managing Partner Jason Goldman recently shared his legal insight with the Florida Record on Florida’s evolving approach to third-party litigation funding (TPLF). Jason highlighted how TPLF can “democratize litigation,” giving lower-income plaintiffs a chance to challenge well-funded defendants. He also stressed the importance of clear guardrails as Florida considers future regulations.
While proposed TPLF legislation stalled this session, Jason made it clear in the article that regulation in Florida is only a matter of time. “It’s going to pass in the future at some point,” he said. “Florida is going to lean into this.”
