Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. The event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating black history.

We would like to ask as well as encourage each and every one of our facebook friends to PLEASE stop to read and share some of the important facts and information about Black history; if you have children, take a few minutes and read some of the literature with them. Colorme She will be celebrating Black history month, so stop by and check out some of the postings; feel free to comment as we LOVE feedback.

Mary J. Blige Explains Support For Gay Marriage While Being A Born-Again Christian

Although she identifies herself as a born-again Christian, Mary J. Blige fully supports same-sex marriage.

The Grammy award-winning hip-hop superstar silenced her naysayers in an interview with Los Angeles Confidential. "I would say this to those people: I’m not God," she told writer Kevin Sessums. "God said not to judge anyone lest you be judged. That’s it. Who am I to point my finger? You’ve got to walk in love. To say you do not want people to be happy is so mean, so not me."

Blige, 41, previously expressed her thoughts on same-sex marriage at the Democratic National Convention last year, telling civil rights attorney and radio host Yetta Kurland, "I think people that support love, it’s amazing. It’s love."

In 2007, she told The Advocate, "The majority of my fans are gay ... I have to really make sure that they know I’m paying attention to the fact that they support me, and I support them."
