This post is just for photography geeks...

I just received and tested the new Canon RF 14mm f/1.4L lens with the R6 Mark III full spectrum modified camera body and a Kolari 720nm clip in (behind the lens) infrared filter. The results are amazing. This picture was shot with a custom white balance in camera then color inverted to replace red sky with blue sky for a more pleasing color balance. It will convert beautifully to black and white too.

The real surprise is the edge clarity. I bought this lens to use for astrophotography (and landscapes). When I tested my ultrawide 11-24mm f/4L lens on the camera I found terribly unacceptable focus issues in the outer 1/3 of the frame with the Kolari filter making the Kolari filter unusable with the 11-24mm lens. I must also state that the 11-24 lens used the Canon EOS to RF lens adapter which may have some unexpected effect with ultrawide lenses.

This RF lens has none of the focus problems and, in fact, has incredibly sharp focus at f/5.6.

The guys at Spencer Camera warned me about the Kolari focus issues and are sending me Astronomik clip-in filters which use a different filter technology on ultra thin glass to avoid the focus problems. Hopefully they arrive this week so I can calibrate the white balance and fully test them with all my lenses before I travel to Namibia on my next photo expedition.
