South Florida friends -- we are helping to spay these beautiful pups at the end of this December and they are up for adoption!
Our friends Madison and Eddy rescued the mama dog back in the summer (she was found as a stray) and 2 weeks later she gave birth to a litter. We are spaying the whole family (6 female puppies and the mama on Dec 31st), and these 3 puppies posted here still need a home!
Meet Mini, One-Dot, and Gray-Girl. They're females, approx 3 months old, up to date on all vaccinations and deworming and soon to be spayed. Contact Madison Ibarra-Janney on Facebook or Instagram for details. There is a reasonable adoption fee which covers the spay, vaccines, microchip, other veterinary care and supplies. These cuties are gonna make great companions -- who's ready for a new family member in 2023?
Bruce is 5 days post-surgery and is good spirits, making slow and steady progress. He's sure got his normal appetite, and has a great attitude. This dog is a trooper!
Three times a day he is getting physical therapy sessions, each of which lasts about 45 minutes. We play relaxing piano music and even use aromatherapy with essential oils, which really sets the mood. We start with a 10-minute massage of the leg that was operated on, gently massaging all the muscles from his toes to his hip. Then we do range-of-motion exercises where we flex and extend each joint of the leg, doing 10-15 reps per joint. After that, it's a short leash walk outside, followed by 10 minutes of icing the leg with a cold gel pack. On top of that, we are doing some balance exercises and now a few days after surgerry, we just started applying moist heat to the hip at the beginning of each session.
It's all very time-intensive but we want this guy to have the best possible outcome. Keep sending good vibes for a speedy recovery!

Bruce (our current shelter/foster dog) was very brave for his “FHO” hip surgery today and everything went very smoothly. Dr. Cabrera, the orthopedic vet surgeon, was able to remove the fractured bone fragments in Bruce's hip (under general anesthesia of course) and now he is on an 8-12 week road to recovery. Dr. Ian Kupkee and his wife, Lynn, of Sabal Chase Animal Clinic were especially kind to host the surgery in their veterinary hospital.
We’re spoiling Bruce with lots of love and TLC to make sure that these next few months allow his leg to return to optimum health. For the next 1 week, we’ll be giving him daily leg massages, doing passive range of motion exercises, short and slow leash walks, cold therapy, and weight shifting exercises. From there, the therapy is slightly different every week as we retrain and strengthen the muscles in his leg. He’s on a lot of pain killers right now along with a course of antibiotics; he’s understandably a little grumpy but we are confident he’s in the best possible hands to get through this like a champ.
We want to extend a huge shout-out to everyone who contributed to his surgery and cheered Bruce on. Please keep sending good vibes for a quick recovery. And if you’d still like to help, it’s not too late. We still have expenses to cover so any donation will get us closer to covering our costs to help this gentle giant. We will also keep you all posted as his recovery continues. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts --Bruce, Eliana, and Dr. Kramer.
