😳 “You won't see me on any mainstream media beyond the 2034 World Cup,” former England defender Micah Richards has shared.

The 38-year-old broadcaster has confirmed he is quitting his high-profile roles to focus on helping young people in less fortunate communities.

🎤 He currently balances major commitments across the BBC, Sky Sports, and CBS Sports alongside co-hosting a podcast series streamed on Netflix.

But he insists he has no intention of remaining on television forever and wants to leave while still at the top of his game.

Broadcasting bosses reportedly think he is joking about his retirement timeline, but he states he is entirely serious.

💰 The former Manchester City player has accumulated an estimated net worth of around £37 million through his playing career and media work.

His earnings included a £200,000 salary from the BBC for his appearances on Match of the Day during the 2021/22 financial year.

Yet he plans to abandon the lucrative media landscape to establish grassroots opportunities for talented youth in Chapeltown, Leeds.

He grew up in the area and says it suffers from a major shortage of opportunities despite an abundance of local talent.

"When the time comes, I want to make a difference to people's lives at a grassroots level – to help those who need it most, especially young people," Richards explained. ❤️

He wants to build something more meaningful than simply acting as a figurehead for a charity or making annual appearances at events.

His current broadcasting contracts are set to continue for the next seven years before his planned departure. 👋
