Last week we held our first PE/VTE collaborative Journal Club with the Interventional Radiology departments from the University of Miami and Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute.

We are grateful to Dr. Usman Shahid, Dr. Brian Schiro, and Dr. Adam Geronemus for their support, collaboration, and for sharing their clinical expertise and perspectives in the management of this complex condition. 

Also, shoutout to our outstanding R1s Simon Maddock, Calé Pagán, and Anders Gould for presenting six major clinical trials, leading thoughtful discussions
in the evolution of different therapeutic approaches.

We appreciate all the faculty, residents, staff, and everyone who joined us for a great evening of discussion and collaboration. Looking forward to many more collaborative sessions ahead!

Between the pool 🏊‍♀️, bounce castle 🏰, pickleball 🏓, badminton 🏸, burgers 🍔, hot dogs 🌭, ice cream 🍦, and all the amazing food 🍕🍪🥤, it was the perfect day 🙌

May 3–6, 2026 | Proud of our UM faculty for representing our institution alongside fellow Florida Radiological Society leaders as part of the Florida delegation at the ACR meeting in Washington, DC.

They participated in voting for ACR leadership candidates, society endorsements, and committee-approved resolutions shaping the future of our field. On the final day, the delegation walked the halls of Capitol Hill to meet with House and Senate representatives and advocate for issues impacting radiology and our patients across Florida.

Advocacy may not be part of the everyday job description of physicians, but it’s essential work, this is how change happens. We are grateful to see our faculty actively involved in the process and serving as official stakeholders in the future of our profession.
