Words will never be sufficient enough to illustrate how much I love being a father and how much I love this child. From the moment he was born something opened in me and I knew I was going to be fully dedicated to this role and this child forever. 15 years later, that opening has only widened and deepend and has been one of the most fulfilling experiences, and yet there's still so much more to come.

I remember not wanting to have kids. I remember being terrified about the idea of being a parent. I had so many doubts, conflicts, questions about my life. The moment I saw him, held him, kissed him, they all went away, and what awakened in me was something profound, something humbling, something igniting, and I just understood.

Zen, you have been one of the greatest gifts to your mother and I, and I love every moment shared in the journey of my life with you. I say it often and mean it every time, thank you for choosing me as your father, thank you for choosing your mother. We will continue to guide you, support you, and love you to the best of our ability always. Thank you Lila for birthing this child of ours and I love the co-parents we are for him.

Such greatness awaits you my boy. Live it everyday in all that you do. I will always be here for you. Happy Birthday and Glorious New Year of you.

Another cycle around the sun, 14 to be exact, brings me to a moment of appreciation, dedication, and love for my son. It is a fascinating thing to witness a human develop into themselves, even more fascinating to be directly involved in the process of development through love, guidance, nurturing, providing, and in livimg an example. You are strong, independent, loving, comical, witty, absurd, confident, shy, talented, and a leader. May you foster all of these traits into an incredible life my boy.

This role of parent clocks in and doesn't clock out. Everything I do in my life impacts yours in some way, shape, or form, and that is a responsibility I do not take lightly. I deem it to be quite sacred. Every stage of you becomes a new form of our relationship as your growth mirrors my own, and you impact my life all the same. I eagerly await all that awaits you as you continue to grow change and evolve.

Zen Mason, I am blessed to be your father in this incarnation, and I will be here to support and love you forever. This is a happy birthday declaration and a proud, heartfelt expression from a father who loves the role he has been granted and honors the responsibility with all that he is.

In the act of being a guiding light, we expose ourselves to the witness of others. We understand that to show the way is to be upfront and in the line of sight. It is necessary not just for those who see, it also gives a lense to the way shower to have a proper view of what is now with where we are and what can be with where we shall go.

In the act of being seen, it is important to remember that our embodiment is a vital component since we are to live the example as the way, of which then our words can follow. Our journey of self-acceptance is an important key in leadership and guidance. We will have our misalignments to be owned and adjusted. We will meet our own thresholds, and fears, and charges. To meet them, accept them, and move valiantly forward is the only option to uphold the integrity of the path, that we may see it through. And just so we are clear, we will see it through. I see you. I love you. I am you.
