Although I am possibly one of the lucky ones who can work from home, in my effort not only to keep myself out of the reach of the virus but to help stop the proliferation of the disease, I think it is a good time to highlight the advantages of remote work.

✔️ You save commuting time (not to count other resources such as gas or public transportation)

✔️ You can do your job in an extremely comfortable environment and with additional or personal motivational (I work in pjs and blasting my favorite music when not in a meeting)

✔️ If you organize yourself well enough, you have more time to dedicate to personal activities

With absolute honesty I must admit that, despite all these advantages, I was very happy with my routine before the lockdown started. I am lucky to say that I can use public transportation to get to work in 20 minutes, in a city so hostile to pedestrians like this.

But whatever the case, the important thing is to remember that as we educate ourselves for responsibility with our work and our environment, we will have unlocked an achievement in our evolution as human beings.

There are perhaps three factors that are essential to make remote work actually WORK for your business:

Technology, as a resource that makes things easier
Organization, as a skill that makes the small pieces of all operations to move in sync like the gears of a clock
Communication, as the process that requires the human resource to be in constant contact (even if it is not physical) to guarantee that the tasks are completed in the necessary time

The key seems to be in the old saying: “Time is money”. The big change that companies have to handle in these difficult times is the way they use time, and managers of this era will face the challenge of deciding whether the presence of the worker is more valuable to their company or the result of their efforts, regardless of where they work.

For the first time, we could say that globalization never had a better time, despite the organic drawbacks.
