This week, we are proud to recognize Robert York, Recycling Technician with the Office of Environmental Quality at Red Cedar Recycling. Robert has been a valued member of the Modoc Nation team for five years, helping support the day-to-day operations of the Modoc Nations Material Recycling Facility. He is known for being dedicated, hardworking, and always willing to lend a hand wherever needed. His proactive attitude and dependable nature make him someone the team can always count on.

As shared in his nomination, “He’s always there when you call on him.”
Outside of work, Robert enjoys spending time with his grandkids, camping, listening to classic country music, and flea market bargain hunting. His favorite saying is, “Follow Me Around!” Please join us in thanking Robert for his continued hard work, commitment, and positive impact on our team.

Congratulations, Robert!

This weekend, our Homelands Crew honored traditional food ways by harvesting wild onions, boocho (wild celery), and camas from our homelands. Afterwards, they made a "first foods" stew consisting of the wild onion and camas bulbs, boocho, and bison burger from the Modoc Ranch. They seasoned it with homemade boocho salt (wild celery leaves ground and mixed with pink salt). Every ingredient tells a story of our relationship with the land and our commitment to restoring traditional food systems.

Modoc Nation members wanting to gather first foods in the Homelands should reach out to our Homelands employees for any assistance desired.
