20 years ago yesterday I (Jennifer Lynn Kauffman) was sitting in my life and health insurance classes preparing to get my license. I'd been working at the office on and off since I was 12 doing everything from filing to dispositioning leads but now I'd actually become an agent. 11 years ago tomorrow I bought out my father Doug Kauffman and became the owner of Benefit Concepts, Inc.. 8 years ago in January I officially rebranded as Phoenix Insurance Consultants.
I cannot believe it's been 20 years already. I remember 34 years ago doing everything by Fax and mail and paper check, quoting companies that don't even exist anymore, and eventually the day when I went from being "Doug's daughter" to being recognized in my own right with my own name on the awards.
I've made a lot of lifelong friends along the way but I think Amanda Brewton tops them all. Thank you for always supporting me. Then my NABIP family at NABIP Ohio Chapter, mostly David Cunix for helping me find my confidence again after I'd lost it and Ingrid Newell Martin for swooping in and wrapping me in her love when I didn't know anybody and always being there to talk me off the ledge. Then Debbie Boop who showed me the ropes and made me snap out of my funk. I had a chip on my shoulder that was absolutely crushing me when I joined nabip and these people helped me find myself again and continue to renew my passion for the industry.
The road stretches out ahead and I can't wait to see what's around the corner. Cheers to the next 20 years.
