Looking out for seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities is what I do. You can also help be a part of that plan. Look out for your neighbors. Visit your family and friends. Many times this group will not ask for help. Some may not have the food they need in their cupboards and refrigerators. Not only would you help enrich others lives, but it feels good to help them. My friends volunteer at the local Meal’s on Wheels, food pantry, and volunteer for transportation. Connection at churches, specific organizations, and senior centers, and agencies on aging may know of a volunteer that help with transportation and other services. I will not be working this Fourth of July, but we’ll start up again on Monday. Please call me if you live in the south central, region of Connecticut along with being a senior, veteran, and individual with a disability. We can talk about what transportation exists in your town and how to use it.

A dangerous heat wave is bringing prolonged extreme heat to more than two dozen states across the Midwest, the South, and the East Coast.
The heat wave began in the Midwest on Monday and has since spread east, where it's set to last into the Fourth of July weekend.
Amtrak canceled over a dozen trains in the Northeast Thursday due to the heat.

CT Residents:
The 2026 Drive Less CT Challenge is officially a wrap!
From Earth Day through the end of May, you and hundreds of fellow residents from across Connecticut chose new ways to get around, and it added up to something remarkable. Together you helped us beat EVERY goal!
Every trip by bus, train, carpool, vanpool, microtransit, bike, walking, or working from home made a difference, and the numbers show it.
• Car trips eliminated: 43,858 (goal: 36,750)
• Car miles reduced: 630,391 (goal: 575,000)
• Money saved: $457,034 (goal: $390,000)
• Emissions prevented: 538,000 lbs. (goal: 490,000 lbs.)
And, with that success, 1,000 trees will be donated to support critical reforestation projects across the United States.
The Challenge may be over, but the habits don't have to be. The options you tried this spring are here all year, and CTrides can help you find the ones that fit your day, whatever your trip looks like. Explore your transportation options anytime at CTrides.com.

I was invited to attend church from a friend I saw at the Wallingford Community Resource Alliance Meeting, Rev. Jeffrey Birch, First Congregational Church of Wallingford. This past Sunday the weather was perfect, the town charming, and I even got a sermon that pepped up my soul. Lunch at a Wallingford restaurant called The Library was also a tasty addition to my day. Showing up to the towns I serve and learning a little more about them is key.
CTTRANSIT BUSES: All CTtransit buses are FREE on July 4th and 5th in honor of America’s 250th birthday 🇺🇸
