Specialist Occupational Therapist who swaps green trousers for jodpurs.#Hippotherapy #Equine Therapy

12/15/2025

Dear family, friends, and colleagues,
I am writing this note with a mix of emotions to let you know that I will be pausing my immediate work in equine facilitated occupational therapy and hippotherapy for the time being.
Please understand that this is a pause, not a final goodbye. My commitment to this work remains absolute, and I sincerely hope to pick up the reins and resume sessions in the future when circumstances allow.
This has been a dream come true. Working with 🐎 and seeing the profound impact of this therapy has been a lifelong aspiration, and I can genuinely say that this dream has been completed with brilliant and outstanding results for both the children and adults we have had the privilege to care for.
I have loved every moment of working alongside so many wonderful people who have become life long friends Iain Ashby, Sandra Haddon and Jean Miller who gave us the opportunity to practice, right from the beginning to show the immense amount of power of this therapeutic approach. My family and friends always supporting my drive to do the things I love ❤️.
I especially want to celebrate the continued success of the broader field. The relationship between our beautiful occupational therapists, physiotherapists, Irma Prins especially, speech and language therapists, students, coaches, riding centres, managers, trustees stable staff, volunteers especially at NNWEC ) and of course our beautiful gee gees and many more. It has been epic !!!! Xx. Occupational Therapy (OT) and equine therapy/hippotherapy is truly flying its flag, and I encourage everyone involved to keep up this amazing work.
I am immensely grateful to have been a part of the Equine Facilitated OT UK Therapy Group , true friends we are. Please keep flying the OT flag and continue to deliver this incredible, transformative therapy.
Thank you all for your support, trust, and shared journey it has been a roller coaster at times but i wouldn't want to ride it with anyone else. The stable door is not closed—it is simply ajar for now.
With immense gratitude and best wishes for the future. Keep up the good work kiddos 🐎 💚 X.

I thought this was an amazing service when we visited Woolacombe. Accessible beaches could ensure that people can experience the joy and well-being of seaside visits. Wheelchairs designed for sandy terrains, or accessible pathways, allow individuals to feel the warmth of the sun, hear the soothing waves, and breathe in the fresh ocean air—all of which are vital for mental and physical health. Accessibility isn't just about convenience; it's about inclusion, equality, and improving lives."

Today is World Mental Health Day ... and we want to recognise how important this is. For everyone who is dealing with mental health issues, we are with you. The burdens we carry and the challenges we face can feel overwhelming, so safe spaces, like the Cavalier Centre, are vital. Plus, we all know the healing power of horses and ponies, so we are grateful for the incredibly valuable, quiet work, and love our equine friends provide.
