TxDOT announced a $24M FY2026 BUILD grant for the I-20/Lamesa Road interchange project in Midland County. The project will reconstruct the interchange, improve the access ramps, and upgrade nearby traffic signals.

City of Midland - upcoming road/lane closures include:
- A lane on Marienfeld Street from Front Street to Missouri Avenue will be closed from July 1, 2026, to Sept. 1, 2026, to allow for utility work.
- Texas Avenue between Main and Big Spring; Colorado Street between Texas and Wall; Wall Street between Main and Colorado; and Loraine Street between Illinois and Texas will be closed from July 3, 2026, to July 5, 2026; to allow for a special event.
- A lane in the 700 block of North Lee Street will be closed from July 1, 2026, to Aug. 1, 2026, to allow for utility improvements.
- Sunburst Drive between Preston and Rainbow will be closed to thru traffic from July 1, 2026, to Aug. 1, 2026, to allow for utility improvements.
