🩺💊 Monday Memories 🏥

Long before childproof caps and modern packaging, medicine looked a little different. This week's Monday Memories features a fascinating collection of antique medicine bottles and surgical instruments on display at the museum.

Did you know that many old medicine bottles were made with ridges or unusual shapes? These designs weren't just decorative. Ribbed bottles often indicated that the contents were poisonous, allowing people to identify them by touch—even in the dark—and helping to prevent dangerous mistakes.

Our exhibit offers a glimpse into how doctors and pharmacists cared for patients in years gone by. From vintage remedies to early medical tools, these artifacts tell the story of how medicine has evolved over the generations.

Stop by the museum and take a step back in time. You may be surprised by how much has changed—and how much these objects can teach us about everyday life in the past.

📍 The museum is open the first three Saturdays of each month from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Have you ever seen any of these old bottles or medical instruments before? Share your memories in the comments!

🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

On this Independence Day, the men and women of the Midlothian Fire Department proudly congratulate our great nation on its 250th birthday. From the brave patriots who declared our independence in 1776 to the communities we are honored to serve today, the spirit of freedom, resilience, and unity continues to burn bright.

We are grateful for the opportunity to protect the lives, homes, and families in Midlothian and the surrounding area — the very freedoms our founders fought to secure.

Today, we remember and honor all who have served in uniform, past and present, to defend this exceptional nation.

Thank you to our residents for your continued support. Stay safe, celebrate responsibly, and enjoy this milestone day with family and friends!
