Hey, hey, hey it’s Caturday! Somehow our dog rescue currently has three kittens in care: a little Cleftie boy that came to us at hours old, a little orphan girl that we snatched up around two weeks old to keep the Cleftie company, and then ANOTHER Cleftie kitten that arrived a week ago. Her cleft was very interesting to us, not what we’re used to seeing; it looked like a zigzag puzzle piece and we suspected trauma. Sure enough, a week later and it’s healing up! Just when you think you’ve seen it all, a traumatic “cleft” palate injured kitten shows up.

Sometimes you go to the shelter on a rainy Saturday to grab a couple of fat potatoes but see a couple of shaky tinies while you’re there and ask yourself, “Why not?” It’s spontaneous and there is no plan for additional shaky tinies so you throw them in a kennel while you try to figure out what to do with your impromptu miniature hitchhikers not bargaining for the fact that they are so incredibly microscopic that they just can just wiggle through the bars of the kennel. And you wouldn’t be a true rescuer if you didn’t say, “Hey, just keep her like that for a second while I get a quick picture.”

I’ve heard from multiple people over the past week that they think that Sanctuary Rescue is closing. Absolutely not. We’re still rocking and rolling as always. Just our adoption store at Westchester is closing. Why? Well, it was always meant to a pop-up. We were doing so well that we extended a few months, but even then we knew it was going to be temporary. We have had a lot of fun and a lot of success, but at the end of the day there just never seems to be enough time or manpower to get it all done, and the rescue will always be our main priority. The store has been amazing and helped 130 dogs (and a couple of cats) find their families. We’ve enjoyed meeting all the people that have come through and told us their stories. We’re definitely going to miss our regulars. So many regulars! Thanks to everyone that was part of the magic for the last six months. Come visit us one last time today! We’ll be there until 8 pm with 50% off merchandise and some adorable adoptables like this guy, Taxi. See ya there.
