Meet one of our incredible experts, Takeo Toyoshima, MD. Dr. Toyoshima received his B.S. from Yale and M.D. from the University of California, LA. He then completed his psychiatry residency, addiction psychiatry fellowship, and forensic psychiatry fellowship at the University of California, SF. Takeo is triple board-certified in forensic psychiatry, addiction and adult psychiatry.
Dr. Toyoshima’s areas of expertise include substance use disorders (SUDs), dual diagnoses and substance-induced conditions such as stimulant-induced psychotic disorders. He has shared his expertise on these subjects at twenty conferences and grand rounds. He has also been the recipient of of ten honors and awards, including the Fellowship status by the American Psychiatric Association in 2022.
Currently, Dr. Toyoshima serves as the medical director of the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Drug and Alcohol Treatment Clinic. He also specializes in treating dual diagnosis cases (i.e., the intersection of psychiatric disorders and substance use disorders) in addition to serving the state’s Japanese-speaking patient population in his private practice.
