A mountain lion went unnoticed as it watched joggers for 3 hours. This encounter (or lack of) illustrates how mountain lions adapt their behavior to avoid encounters with people. Felidae’s own research has shown that pumas adjust their behaviour to avoid hikers, especially those with dogs, and also to avoid areas with artificial light pollution.
With expanding urban development, avoiding humans becomes increasingly challenging for these large carnivores. Being proactive can help foster human-wildlife coexistence. This includes leashing pets when hiking, staying on designated trails, and not hiking alone between evening to early morning when pumas are more likely to be active.

Happy Canada Day!
Can you tell the difference between a Canada lynx and a bobcat? Comment the differences below!
While some wild cats would struggle in the colder climates, Canada lynx have unique adaptations like enlarged paws to hold themselves on top of snow and stellar hearing to better locate prey species.
