…and just like that, you wake up and they’re grown. there’s no more “going out to play.”
they stop asking to be picked up.
they aren’t afraid of their closets anymore.
their socks start to match.
you can’t remember the last time you read a book at bedtime.
mommy turns into mom (or bro 🤦🏻♀️)
the house is quieter
you’ll miss the chaos.
you’ll miss cleaning all the water and snow they tracked in when they went out on their snow day to build that last snowman.
you’ll miss the bickering between siblings you once thought would be the death of you.
you’ll miss the opportunity to kiss a boo-boo.
you’ll miss the moments you never thought carried SO much weight.
this is your sign you didn’t know you needed to take a deep breath. let it go. and live IN these very tiny moments with the very tiny loves of your lives. embrace the mud. matter of fact, sit down with them in it. fling some mud at each other.
make a million art pieces.
read the book. stay up 20 minutes later. skip the dishes. lay in the pile of clothes with them and laugh about how dreadful it’s going to be folding them. the work will always be there. these precious moments won’t be.
Let him go stomp in the rain puddles, barefoot in jeans.
Let her cake her face with makeup and wear the heels that are 5 sizes too big for those tiny feet.
Let them drive you nuts with the countless songs and dances they make up.
Let them live their best lives, but don’t forget to do it with them. Enjoy the crazy.
They are the wild to our mild ❤️

Photos from the Veal wedding.
This is Aaron and his father
His father was unable to make the wedding due to medical reasons but that was okay because we brought some wedding to him!
These are the moments from your special events that I carry in my heart forever.
I will never forget standing there, listening to his fathers voice as it quivered with pure love and pride. I will never forget how he sounded telling his son “I am so DAMN proud of ya, man” as Aaron told him of his future plans and as they talked about him becoming a married man.
I will never forget Aaron reminiscing on childhood memories, reminding his father of the small things we as adults can forget as time, and life passes. The laughter they shared in those few sweet moments.
This is why I do what I do.
These here are moments frozen in time, we can never get back. But we do get to relive them! And I’m so grateful the facility allowed us to be there and allowed them to share this special moment together ❤️
