I'm grateful to Rolling Out for helping shine a light on a conversation that could save lives.
Colorectal cancer is no longer just a disease affecting older adults. Today, it's the leading cause of cancer death among men under 50 and the second leading cause among women under 50 in the United States.
One of the biggest challenges is that many people wait until symptoms appear. By then, the disease is often more difficult to treat.
As someone who lost my aunt to a preventable colorectal cancer, this work is very personal. Every interview is an opportunity to encourage someone to schedule a screening, ask questions, or start a conversation with someone they love.
One lesson continues to guide my work:
People don't act on what they know. They act on what they trust.
If this interview encourages even one person to get screened earlier or talk with a family member about their health history, it's worth sharing.
Thank you to the Rolling Out team for helping elevate this important message. I hope you'll take a few minutes to watch the interview.
It might just save a life.

Sometimes we talk about "data" as though it's separate from people.
It isn't.
Every data point represents someone's parent.
Someone's child.
Someone's spouse.
Someone's friend.
When communities are overlooked in the data, they're too often overlooked in the decisions that follow.
That's why I'm grateful for opportunities like Afrotech's HealthStack Conference, where Dr. Uché Blackstock and I will discuss how better data, stronger community partnerships, and greater trust can help improve health for everyone.
The goal isn't simply to collect more information.
The goal is to ensure every person is seen, every voice is valued, and every community has the opportunity to thrive.
Praying that you have a week filled with purpose and impact!
