Harvest Day is not only a day for festivities and joyful communion , but to remind us that the fruit of our labor is reaping in full blessings.

Tuesday Thoughts-

How do we repair an unhealthy community?

With the break out of parasites in our produce from grocery stores that we are heavily reliant on - We ask our selves what could be the alternatives in our time of need.

Look to your gardens, look to your farmers markets that our locally grown and less processed and get your food from your community!

So to answer the question ,
we bring the source of health to them.

With knowledge, time, and care we utilize homegrown food as a tool to provide sustenance for the families .

We will establish sovereignty as a base building principle.

Meet the new Growing Youth Leadership interns!

(On the left ) - Justin Banks is 17 years old and a upcoming senior at Wisconsin Conservatory of Life Long Learning ( WCLL).

He is returning to Walnut Way for a third year as an intern and garden employee.

He's looking forward to using his experience to help lead his peers throughout the summer and giving back to the community.

(On the right)-Alya'j Jackson also known as "A.J." is a 14 year old student who will be attending this upcoming fall to Martin Luther High School.

He is a dedicated student-athlete committed to working hard both in the classroom and on the field.

He is excited to compete, grow as a leader, and represent his school with pride. His goal is to keep improving every day through discipline, teamwork, and determination.

(On the right ) -Naomi Thurman is a 14 year old student from Nicolet High School.

She is working with Growing Youth Leadership to gain hands-on experience working in the garden and with fresh juice.

Outside of work she is deeply passionate about creative expression regularly writing poems and stories.
Inspired by music and art, she loves to bring a fresh creative perspective to everything she does.

We are excited and eager to build with the young folk who are fostering food sovereignty and community networking skills to prepare for a bright future.

In our spring camp with the littles, we introduced them to sensory outings such as dirt, and the importance of creating your own garden. With our youth it starts with one seed, and you can see it all blossom.
